Good afternoon, fellow members of the Oppositluck club.
A few days ago, I decided to sharpen my knowledge of flying devices, which led to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Fellow Opponaut and personal friend !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! rightfully challenged me about bush planes.
The Challenge was indeed accepted, and today I am proud to publish an essay on the most enthusiastic plane ever made, the Junker JU52 (pronounced Yunkherrrrrrr GeyYouFifhtyTwo).
Of course I could go on and on, but as they say, a single photo is worth a thousand words, so needless to say that the gallery below is worth a few thousands words.
For more information on this awesome plane, please go !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and type "Junker JU52 Wiki" in the input box.
Hope you enjoyed !
Here's a Junker in its natural habitat, a bush
A trio of Junkers in the sky
Passengers boarding a Junker
Restored Junker carrying a flag
Blades of glory

I was about to say that the corrugated aluminum looks like a Ford tri-motor. Did some quick googling, and Ford totally stole it from Junkers. The more you knowwwwwwwwwwwww.............

Except that the Ford Trimotor predates it, and looks very similar. Plus, 'Murica.

I think you'll find the plane was actually a Junkers.

Hell yeah, they did. They built B24 Liberators under contract in WWII as well.

How come stories like that are never on the front page, or on Flight Club ?
That's a shame. The connection between planes and cars should be exploited a lot more I think.

Sweet rig, I wonder how she takes to skids and pontoons. She could get you, friends and a lot of gear in some pretty far flung spots from the looks of her.
Set her up like a glorified RV and really see the world.

Lol, passengers. These would be the elite Fallschirmjäger (well ok re-enactors but still).

A glorified RV that flies in the sky, that's pretty impressive if you ask me.

Anyone boarding the passenger cabin of aircraft is a passenger. When President Bush is boarding Aircraft one, he's a passenger, not a president.

Technically Air Force One is only officially that when the President boards, otherwise it's just a cool looking plane.

Thanks for the clarification, but yes, even as a President, he's still a passenger since he doesn't drive the plane.
You're either a driver or a passenger, or a co-driver.

I'm going to say the Fokker F.VII beats the Junkers as far as badassery goes. And I'm not sure that is the most badass plane, but it is one that I've seen in person at the Henry Ford Museum.

There is also a long connection between Junkers and Lufthansa, which makes sense since both are German.
Lufthansa paid homage to the Junkers in their first class cabins they used from the late 90s to now. They're currently being replaced with more modern cabins.
This is an example of the Lufthansa first class cabin with the corrugated metal look utilised on some of the seating surfaces.
They also extended the look to twhe napkin rings.
And Junkers has branded watches that Lufthansa periodically sells in duty free that also pay homage to the corrugated metal on the face. This one even has "Iron Annie JU 52" on the face.

If only Bush is no longer the president. When President Obama boards a plane, he's both a passenger and POTUS.

Top wing version, yes. But the inside story (at least from an old issue of "Flying" magazine) was that Henry Ford invited Junkers to fly in to Detroit for a visit while his engineers made lead tape silhouettes of the Junkers' wings so they can duplicate it for the Trimotor. This still doesn't negate the fact that both planes contributed significantly to commercial aviation.
